For all those who enjoy seeing a list of "Recent topics" on the index page without having to search through the forum, I have set up the forum to now show them. For those who don't want the list to show every time they log in, follow these steps to disable the recent topics list from showing:
Go to your User control panel (Click on your login name up the top right of the page and then select it from the drop down menu that appears)
Select "Board Preferences" from the Tabs list of the panel
Select "Edit Display Options" from the menu on the left hand side of the panel
Down the bottom you will see the option to turn on or off "Display recent topics"
Submit any changes you make and you are done.
