Re: Airbrushing and doping

I have a question about airbrushing. I do not plan to fly in rainy weather... You don't ever GET any rainy weather, as we all know! :D I don't know the answer to the question, but I would suspect that as the acrylic is water based it would shrink and colour the undoped tissue both at the same time....

Re: Herr Pitts Special

Absolutely stunning even by your standards, Monz! Totally gorgeous little model. When Alex Whittaker sees that at the Nats he's going to go wild I reckon.

Re: On the workbench right now...

That looks superb, Tim. I know nothing about pistachios but the weight sounds extremely low to me, especially for a scale biplane with spats! It's looking very neat.
(I really like the Chad too- you seem to be on a building roll at the moment!)

Re: Went flying...

Just lovely. It looks so good that I'm not even going to mention that it would look even better with a pilot. (oops)
Wonderful photos of a great model. Thanks for sharing!

Re: Herr Pitts Special

It's looking great, Monz! I don't know how you can build fast and yet still be so neat and accurate. That coaming for instance- I've tried that trick with cutting a slit in wire casing and it never goes on as beautifully as that. And the masking and spraying would take me hours of faffing about, as ...

Re: Bellanca K "Roma"

Thanks George. I agree it needs more circuits and also a bit more height but still, In my book it doesn't look all that far off being trimmed when it's already taking off and flying as steadily as that! That kind of span is a nice size for an indoor scale model I think.

Re: Bellanca K "Roma"

It's a lovely model and a great subject, George. You really do pick them! That flight certainly does look promising- not sure I agree agree that it's "FAR from being trimmed" though!
What is the span, by the way (sorry if you said already)?

Re: Californian

Despite the trimming frustrations I still think it was worth doing because it's a good looking little beast, and does at least show how a metal skinned aircraft is much better represented by foam than stick and tissue. I'd be inclined to try a larger tailplane before giving up and, although it goes ...
