Re: Herr Pitts Special
I see the black on the outside of the parts is gone. Did you sand it off or have you found a better way. I always liked cutting the parts out but the laser parts do fit together nicely. They must have turned the laser down on this one as there was only slight discolouring of the balsa, not even bur...

Herr Pitts Special
Started this yesterday evening, it's the Herr kit which I'm modifying into Betty Skelton's Lil Stinker N22E. The laser cut sheet is all very nice stuff, but the strip wood is all quite heavy so I'll be replacing that as I go. I've redrawn the wings for scale rib spacing which meant cutting a few ext...

Pete Fardell wrote:Very nice! 20.8g sounds like an absolute feather for 36" span. You'll be in danger of losing it at that weight.
(Btw, have you started that tank glider yet?)
If it flies away I'll just build another
The AN-40 will start shortly

Re: 36" Slingsby Prefect
Thanks faif, it really is a nice little model, especially at 36". I managed to get this 99% completed on Thursday evening. Just the wing struts and wheel to add. I used to light a balsa for the leading and trailing edges of the wings which led to them bowing quite badly so I added a length of 1...

Re: 36" Slingsby Prefect
Bit more done. Finished the fus and built the tails feathers. I screwed up somewhere so there are some skew bits which I've fixed best I can. So will finish this in plain tissue and see how it flies with the new wing section before building another with a scale finish. 7g so far. http://i240.photobu...

36" Slingsby Prefect
Made a start on another one of these to replace my now retired (trashed) previous version. I messed up something somewhere and the formers were skew which I only saw after glueing so had to add some 1/16th stringers top and bottom of opposite sides of the rear fus to balance things out again. Not su...

Very cool Tim! How did you hollow out the fus?
