Re: OD-17 O.F.F.C. One Design Model For 2017

Testing it again at the O.F.F.C. meeting this morning. Was acting a bit funny until I realized that the rear of the stabilizer had become unglued from the fuselage. With it glued down had no problem getting it to turn in the room and fly up near the ceiling. One flight it landed on the back of one o...

Re: Peanut Build Aborted

I decided to go with John Barryman's plan for the Sonex. It's about as simple as a scale model can get aside from, having to plunge mold the canopy, and there are many color schemes available. As in most plans there are a few things left to the imagination but nothing serious. I've already created a...

Re: Peanut Build Aborted

Well, I printed out the HM.293 plan full size. I looked at it and thought ,"Really?!!" Now I know why I usually don't build anything scale smaller than a dimer and 1:16 scale is my favorite size. Actually, given the time I would like to build this one. With the time I have I have to select...

Peanut Build Aborted

The O.F.F.C. contest for August is Peanut Scale. I knew that there were some peanuts in the stack of kits in my closet (or under the workbench, or in storage containers) so, not having the time to design my own with what else I have going on, I decided to built the first one I came across. That turn...

Re: OD-17 O.F.F.C. One Design Model For 2017

In spite of the suggestion, by one of the more mischievous members of the group, that I should have designed the model and passed out the kits without testing it simply to enjoy the chaos that resulted I spent some time testing it. The flying characteristics of the OD-17 indoors did not satisfy me. ...

First Experience With Gampi Tissue

I had heard of Gampi tissue. It's supposed to be lighter than Esaki but with good wet strength. Some competition rules for stick and tissue classes actually forbid using it. Aside from this, I was happy with Esaki and never thought about using gampi. One of my customers has been competing successful...

Dave's downloads from Model Aviation are always free. I'll have to ask him when it will be available.

Re: Beanburg D1 - Bostonian

nice flyer! Is there somewhere an plan? Uhu I am bringing it out as a laser cut kit in August along with another of my Bostonian designs, the Irish Jumping Bean, and the OD-17 beginner's fuselage model. Where are you located? I get the impression you are in Germany. In the US my Bostonian kits cost...

Re: Indoor Flying with the O.F.F.C.

Last Wednesday, July 26th, was the Penny Plane contest. I'll have to admit that Penny Plane is not my thing, I don't build that light. Also, the contest can be a bit tedious since the flights and the prep between them can take some time. Once again, it proved that these extremely light models are di...

Re: OD-17 O.F.F.C. One Design Model For 2017

I did manage to get a short video of the OD-17 flying with just enough winds on it to ROG. I was limited in the time I had because the Penny Plane contest was starting.
