Tim, you should have brought it to switzerland last saturday to our spring meeting.
You will not find softer grass for trimming :D It was a bit windy, but the sun was shining the whole day.
George did trim his Bellanca, which flew nicely at the end of the day.
I will send you whats left from the nice weather... Still plenty of sunshine. And even the wind is gone...
Hope you will have good conditions soon.

Thanks Roman, I'm looking forward to receiving the nice weather you are sending! Can you send enough for the whole summer please? :D

The Altair is still proceeding. I have done the underwing reg Nos and I am currently working on the white fuse markings and lettering. Pics when that part is done.

Over the last week or so I have done most of the white marking and lettering so here are some photos. Seems to bring the model to life when you do things like this. First pics are of masking and finish of the underwing reg.

Then the white fuse stripes were done. These are all cut from painted decal sheet. I could have used white sheet on its own but I wanted to match the gloss paint look of the blue. The lettering is the same except the "Lady Southern Cross" which is 5mm vinyl self adhesive lettering bought from a marine modelling online shop. Pics show the templates for the fuse stripes (coloured so I could see them properly on the white decal sheet) and one with the lettering part done showing my simple alignment mask.

Wow! What a super neat job you've made of that, Tim. The lettering, trim and paint scheme certainly do bring it to life. The whole model is looking superb! Just magnificent!

Thanks Pete and George!
The "Lady southern cross" lettering was done the easy way! I found a website for marine modelling which supplies self adhesive vinyl lettering in various colours and letter sizes. Here is the pack I used which is 5mm letters. There wasn't a choice of font and it isn't quite right but it's close enough for me.
