On the workbench right now...

Postby rgroener » Mon Jan 09, 2017 6:57 am

I hope it is ok to start the "on the workbench" thread again. Its great to post progress of work for projects not big enough to start a seperate thread.
So feel free to post here too :)

I started another Frog Redwing some time ago. Since I have multiple pans on the hot plate, progress is quite slow
At the moment I am covering the Frog in red.
The fuselage came out quite nice. I am not sure yet about the wing, there are still some minor wrinkles. I have not decided yet, if I can live with them...

Good idea Roman. After the disapearance of the old site I started, in absolute frustration, building small steam engines and model boats (if no objections, I can post some pics), so planes are not on my building board, but this little Redwing looks very tempting!

:D Ludo, I would be happy to see your model boats here. But I am not the forum owner and can therefore only speak for myself...
I am happy that my Redwing is whetting your appetite for airplanes again. There is always some place on the workbench for a redwing.
One rainy weekend is enough to build one. They are sturdy and fly well. What do you want more :D
I've built my Orange Redwing during the 24h cookup.

I'll post some boatpics soon. Started with Redwing (will be a goldwing, used a plastic coating I found somewhere in a forgotten box, way too heavy, like the honda goldwing...). It is indeed a fast and straightforward build. Weight untill now is 22 gms (incl plastic prop but without uc, wheels and fuselagecovering). C of G seems okay like it is, so maybe I'll ommit the undercarriage... Roman, what motor do you use?

Ludo,
Under the quick reply box click on "Full Editor & Preview". You'll see the attachments button there - it doesn't appear in the quick reply mask.

Ludo, nice one. Even with holes in the stab. What colour will you be using for the fuselage?

I covered the wing the second time yesterday evening. I was not satisfied with first cover job...
I did not shrink it yet, but I am optimistic, that it turns out better this time.

Yes, the holes in the stab... Was too heavy with the film I use. Fuse is in the same orangeyellow. Weight (excl rubber and u.c.) is 24,5 gms. With normal tissue I presume it would be around 20 gms, but this covering is a lot stronger so better resistant to the fingers of my youngest son (4,5 years old), already very interested in everything that flies. Success with the wing!
