Rubber Power Meeting 2016 in switzerland

Postby rgroener » Mon Oct 24, 2016 1:20 pm

Last saturday we had our rubber power meeting in switzerland.
Since we lost our old flying field, we were very happy to be the first time on the new location. Even the weather was nice with us.
It was a sunny day with some wind in the afternoon, but plenty of oportunities to fly and have fun.
We even had two guests who found the long way to switzerland. One of them brought a nice Bellanca Bostonian you might know ;)
There was no contest, just flying for fun :)

Here are some pics from various photographer...
(For those who already saw the threat on HPA, I tried to post different pictures here since I dont want to bore you :D

Great to see that you've acquired a new flying site - even if only for once a year! Is it a full-size airfield?

Staubkorn, yes. Its the Airfield of Olten (LSPO)
For our meetings in spring, we are still looking for an other new location. Olten is only available in fall.
It's not easy to find a nice field for freeflight:-(

Hi Roman, Thanks for the pics and report, It's great to see that you had a good meeting with your usual perfect Swiss weather! how do you cope with blue skies and no wind for 365 days a year . Nice to see George's Bellanca bostonian in the air too. The most intriguing model in your photos is that beautiful Hurricane; what can you tell us about it and have you any other photos.

I hope you find somewhere for the spring event. Looks like a good turnout for an unadvertised first time meeting.
Tim

Tim, it is not easy with only blue sky and no wind. From time to time, I have to go to holiday in other countries just to have some rain.
But what can I do... I try to carry this burden with dignity ;)

Its a bit embarassing, but I dont know to much about the beautiful Hurricane. All I can say at the moment is, the he did his trim flights in the morning. And unfortunately on one of his first flights, one wingtip was damaged. But he was able to fix it for the moment and at the end, he had some very nice flights. Dont ask me why I didn have the camera with me when he flew.... I missed quite a few very nice planes to capture with the camera since I was flying a lot...
I will contact him and ask for more information.
Here are some more pictures of the Hurricane. Some more pictures are on the way to me. Lets hope, that there are some inflight pics...

Super pictures, Roman. You really spoil us. I was going to ask about the Hurricane on HPA, so Tim has saved me the trouble. It really does look just right. Wonder whose design it is? Agree about George's little fat Bellanca too- always loved that model!
