Rubber power meeting spring 17 in Switzerland
Rubber power meeting spring 17 in Switzerland
I just realised, that I did not post it here on SFA.
This year we have again a spring meeting of rubber power enthusiasts in switzerland.
On a brand new field in Rapperswil-Jona at the lake of Zuerich.
Date is the 25. March (Saturday) 2017
It is open to everybody. If someone is interested, please send me a pm, I will be happy to give more detailed information or answer your questions.
This is no competition, just pure rubber power fun. It doesnt matter if its a kit or scratch build, small or big, as long as it is driven by rubber power.

If you havent seen the pics already on HPA, here are some from our meeting last fall.

Re: Rubber power meeting spring 17 in Switzerland
With a week's delay, here are some photographs from this nice event. It was only two hours drive for me, so it was possible to spend a nice Saturday.
The weather cooperated only partly: we had the (as it seems typical
) swiss clear skies, but also a consistent medium strong wind, which did not allow perfect flights, especially for untrimmed models. The grass was high enough to protect the models, so no major damages were recorded.
Overall a very nice event, well organised by Roman, who received the credit by those present.
Plenty of models of all types and sizes, rubber powered only (with only two minor exceptions)
Here are some photographs I managed to take. Sorry, no captions.

A commemorative photograph of those present (1 or 2 might have left earlier...)

Following are some pictures of very lightweight rubber EDF models by Thanh Pham. Most impressive, even though not yet finished

An unexpected bonus for me was the passing by at high altitude of two Junkers 52 3m. Regular visitors at airshows in Switzerland and Germany, but a completely new sight for me. My camera did the best it could (not enough...) so here are some cropped images.
Well, that is all for now...

Re: Rubber power meeting spring 17 in Switzerland
Thanks for those George; a nice selection of models under a perfect Swiss blue sky! Can you tell us any more about the ducted fan model? I presume it is a homemade fan unit? Did you get to see it fly or was it too windy?
How did the Bellanca do? I hope Roman got some video of it and some other models flying or was he too busy having fun (and doing the event organisation of course!).

Hi Tim,
The ducted fan models and units are all homemade. The models shown are not yet finished, so no flying...
The Bellanca did average well. It flew, despite the wind, but not for a very long time. but I need to find the proper rubber size and length. The one I am currently using has a strong initial burst (not needed) and not enough duration. In a year I will have it sorted out, I think...
There are some videos, medium quality... We 'll see.
