It's a lovely model and a great subject, George. You really do pick them! That flight certainly does look promising- not sure I agree agree that it's "FAR from being trimmed" though!
What is the span, by the way (sorry if you said already)?

Re: Bellanca K "Roma"
Thanks Pete,
At 1/32 scale it has a wing span of 620mm (~24").
A full circuit only is too short. I agree it looks good in the air, but I expect/hope to see 3-4 circles...
PS. Saw your message on FB, look forward to seing you too, in Nijmegen.

Re: Bellanca K "Roma"
Thanks George. I agree it needs more circuits and also a bit more height but still, In my book it doesn't look all that far off being trimmed when it's already taking off and flying as steadily as that! That kind of span is a nice size for an indoor scale model I think.
Re: Bellanca K "Roma"
What rubber and prop have you got in it at the moment George?
That flight looked good, almost there

George, congratulation. It already flies very nice!
It has the same wing-span as my Piper Vagabond. I will check the rubber prop combo when I am back from work.

George, I checked my Vagabond...
Prop is a 8" Peck. rubber is one loop 60cm long with 3/16".
I just found out, that I didnt note the exact rubber combo in Nijmegen. The combo above is from good trim flights outdoor. But Nijmegen must be close to it.
I have to remember to update the datas at the next occasion.
Hope it helps anyway.
Roman
PS: I also checked the 24" Travelair which is a bit heavier and flies faster.
Prop is also 8" Peck, rubber is two loops 60cm long of 1/8".

Re: Bellanca K "Roma"
Thanks for the nice comments.
Of course, it goes without saying that I also have a few videos of not so successful flights
. I chose to upload the best one and hide the rest
Propeller is a Peck Polymers 6" prop cut to 5" for take off clearance.
Rubber motor used, was a not properly prepared, wound and unlubricated loop of 3/16" with a length of 43 cm / 17". turn were about 800.
I was rather lazy to try for more, I also had the wings rather unglued nd had no glue with me to fix it. (So much for "be prepared"...)

Re: Bellanca K "Roma"
Thanks Roman,
I have the disadvantage of having a rather small prop. I will try towards your suggestions.
I do not know when there will be another indoor session. In the worst case I will have to wait for the 25th of March. Luckily I will be here, so it is possible to attend to your event. Now I have two Bellancas to fly

Very impressive George. I'm sure you must be pleased with that as a start to trimming.
I'm interested to know what your plans are for version #2. Are you ready to start it straight away or will you do a lot more trimming first? Have you already got a list of changes for #2 based on the building of this one and if so what are they?
Also wondering how long a model like that will take you. Would you expect to have the new one ready for Nijmegen in November.

Re: Bellanca K "Roma"
George, if you are limited to a 5" prop, maybe you can try a wider blade or higher PD?
Great to hear that you plan to come again to switzerland. I try to organise nice and calm weather for us.
